Day TWENTY FIVE – July 11, 2010
Today is Sunday the last non busy day in Zomba.
Since nothing was planned we all decided to go down to the market to buy last minute souvenirs. We spent a long time bargaining and arguing, but everybody was happy with what they got at the end of the day. Danielle and I decided to leave the group and go have lunch at Tasty Bites. It was kind of sad that it would be the last time we will eat there, but the food was enjoyable. While we were there we saw all the adults in the van swing by tasty bites to pick up Jennifer who is one of the professors from Radford University. Danielle and I hopped up at the opportunity to catch a ride because we were both lugging around with duffle bags and book bags full of wood souvenirs and that long walk up the hill to the lodge was not fun. So they let us on the van and said we can tag along to where they were going. We ended up going to a building where Annie was having a political rally. Apparently Annie is running for Mayor of Zomba. This rally was way more interesting than the ones back home. There was a group of women who kept singing and dancing I guess whenever they heard something good. The whole thing was in Chichewa except for small parts when they were speaking directly to us. It seemed like there was a few important people there too like the governor. Afterwards we went back to the lodge to enjoy our night.
